  • The Boykin Spaniel: South Carolina’s Dog Book Signing at the Preservation Society on February 13th, 10:00am-12:00pm

The Preservation Society of Charleston announces an upcoming book signing for The Boykin Spaniel: South Carolina’s Dog by Mike Creel and Lynn Kelley.  The book signing will be in the Society’s Book & Gift Shop, located at 147 King Street, on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 10:00am – 12:00pm.  

 

Meet authors Mike Creel and Lynn Kelley, who offer an unparalleled resource on South Carolina’s state dog, a breed that originated in the South Carolina Midlands in the early twentieth century.  The Boykin Spaniel offers a complete history on the breed, profiling the Boykin spaniel’s distinctive characteristics, describing the dog’s sterling sporting abilities and unique personality, and recounting a distinguished cast of trainers and award-winning owners.

 

Mike Creel is a South Carolina native and longtime writer for the South Carolina Wildlife magazine.  A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Journalism, in 1997 he was the recipient of the Harry R. E. Hampton “Woods and Waters” Conservation Memorial Award for journalism presented by the South Carolina Wildlife Federation.  Lynn Kelley, a former dean and professor at colleges in Missouri, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania, moved to South Carolina in 1991.  He is also the author of a children’s book, The First Boykin Spaniels: The Story of Dumpy and Singo.
