The Preservation Society of Charleston promotes an understanding and appreciation of Charleston’s architectural heritage through a variety of programs. These programs seek to both educate and advocate for the preservation and protection of the built environment in that we live and work. Preservation Programs include the annual Carolopolis / Pro Merito Awards Program that recognizes property owners who have completed sensitive exterior rehabilitation, preservation, restoration, or new construction; the Historic Markers Program, a program that identifies noteworthy buildings of historic or architectural importance in Charleston; the Preservation Easements Program, a continuous program of providing a preservation tool with federal tax incentives; and advocacy at the local level. |
