Savannah Tour of Homes

Ever wished you can peek inside those gorgeous Savannah homes? Look no further than the Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens! Celebrating its 82nd year, the Tour has been “opening doors in Savannah since 1935” via a very special charity event hosted each spring in Savannah.  For one weekend a year, homeowners grant exclusive access for thousands of people to walk through the interiors of beautiful homes and courtyards not normally open to the public, all in the name of charity. Each of the four days of Tour weekend features a different Historic Home & Garden walking tour, as well as a variety of unique special events and seminars, ranging from informative tours on the city’s renowned preservation to traditional southern “soul food” lunches. Some of the events are free and open to the public, others are ticketed.

*Preservation Society of Charleston Shop

The story of Charleston is well  told through its artisans. Bakers, candlemakers,  and carpenters supplied the new colony with the craft and skills needed to sustain the new inhabitants.  As the city grew and prospered, cabinet makers and silversmiths added luxury touches, while the German merchants of the late 19th century stocked King Street with clothing , leather products, and groceries.   That story continues in the artisans and craftsmen of today’s Charleston. The Preservation Society proudly presents these modern “makers” – who continue the legacy of Charleston’s past today.
