Insider’s Architecture & History Tour

As one of the main east-west connectors in the city, Broad Street, originally named Cooper Street, developed as a bustling commercial corridor with landmarks such as the Four Corners of Law and the Old Exchange Building. Join us as we explore the eastern side of Broad, still largely dominated by law, real estate, finance, local shops, and restaurants with residences above. The architectural styles represented along four city blocks span the course of Charleston’s history. Many of these sites have been recently rehabilitated by firms whose design shops are also located on Broad Street.

Insider’s Tours take guests inside some of Charleston’s finest buildings, seldom open to the public. These tours are guided by noted professionals such as architects, historians, and preservation experts with in-depth interpretation focused on Charleston’s unique architectural styles, layered history, preservation ethic, and design. Each tour includes a unique set of 3 – 4 properties and lasts approximately 2.5 hours, complimentary refreshments are included.
