Join us for a hard hat tour of 134 Fishburne St., located in the historic Westside neighborhood.

Join the Preservation Society of Charleston, Old City Builders, and American Vernacular for a unique behind-the-scenes Hard Hat Tour of a historic Westside home currently undergoing a major interior rehabilitation. 134 Fishburne is a lovely early 20th century vernacular residence with craftsman influences.

This project thoughtfully reimagines the house to better support modern family life while honoring the structure’s historic character. Attendees will get an up-close look at how preservation and renovation can work hand in hand—maintaining the integrity of the building while adapting it for contemporary use.

Throughout the tour, participants will hear directly from the project team, including the contractors of Old City Builders and the designers at American Vernacular, who will share insights into the design decisions, challenges, and creative solutions shaping the home’s evolution. This tour offers a compelling example of how preservation can be both practical and forward-looking—proving that historic homes can evolve without losing what makes them special.

Please note: This event will take place in an active construction site. All participants must sign a general liability waiver upon arrival and closed-toe shoes are required.
