Classic House & Garden Tour: South of Broad Classics – Tradd Street & Surrounding Streets
Explore the western end of Tradd Street, where Charleston’s architectural story spans more than two centuries. Unlike some streets that developed all at once, this section reflects the city’s gradual evolution through a mix of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century buildings alongside thoughtfully designed infill homes from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Along the way, discover how changing tastes, preservation efforts, and redevelopment have shaped the neighborhood over time. The tour highlights a variety of architectural styles, historic landscapes, and the ongoing relationship between preservation and new construction within Charleston’s nationally recognized historic district.
House & Garden Tours take place from 2-5 PM and feature a unique set of 6-8 properties in a different neighborhood each weekend. Enjoy a self-guided tour, going from site to site at your leisure, where our volunteer docents are stationed to share knowledge about the history, architecture, and landscapes.
